Underwriting Director     ( Personal Lines)

Comma Recruitment are looking for a talented Senior Personal Lines Underwriting Manager / Specialist to move into an exciting senior role developing and maintaining an underwriting team to underwrite and service Ontario.

 

The role entails developing, implementing and maintaining control mechanisms and processes to ensure compliance to external and internal policies and requirements

Developing and maintaining effective broker partnerships in the region and relationship building practices between underwriters and brokers

Providing input to the Ontario region’s strategic and tactical plans and directions

Developing, recommending, implementing and maintaining appropriate underwriting and service  policies, practices and continuous improvement initiatives to allow for ease of doing business

Developing, implementing and maintaining a business plan applicable to the underwriting processes

 

Comma Recruitment are looking for a high level Personal lines Underwriter with a minimum of 8 years experience in personal lines, including a minimum of 3 years in a senior or specialized  underwriting role

A University degree and/or active participation in CIP courses or equivalence

Ability to identify new ideas, techniques and opportunities for improvement

A strategic leader, experienced within a broker distribution channel and familiar with market conditions

Previous staff management experience including hiring, performance, and salary management

Ability to lead, influence, direct, negotiate and advise others is required

Ability to develop and deliver verbal/written explanations of information to superiors, peers, brokers , and the regions underwriting team in a well thought out, logical and effective manner

Ability to take evaluated risks or initiate actions to capitalize on opportunities

Ability to manage annual expense plan

Ability to travel as required
