Intermediate AB Adjuster – Mississauga
Comma Recruitment are looking for an intermediate AB Adjuster, you will be responsible for investigating, negotiating and settling minor to moderate Accident Benefits claims.
Responsibilities:
- Confirm valid coverage.
- Fully investigate and verify claims under Ontario’s S.A.B.S.
- Fully investigate minor to moderate injuries.
- Provide instruction and direction to internal and external vendors i.e.: independent adjusters, rehabilitation firms, translation firms, investigation firms, legal counsel
- Calculate ultimate probable exposure and reserve accordingly.
- Properly maintain a diary system to monitor files.
- Ensure files are up to date with A.B. packages and forms, medical information, employment information and treatment information.
- Report any serious injuries to Team Leader & Manager.
- Prepare Major Loss Reports and participate in Claims Committee process as required
- Comply with service standards as outlined in the claims manual.
- Actively participate in settlement initiatives along with both private and mandatory (FSCO) mediations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
Ideally 2 years Accident Benefits full file handling and adjusting experience, we would be open to a talented Junior AB with 12 months claims experience
Knowledge of regulatory and contractual obligations, medical terminology, vocational rehabilitation concepts and the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule.
Detail oriented and well organized individual.
Strong oral and written communication skills and superb interpersonal skills.
Work well individually and as a part of a team.
Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and related programs
High School Diploma or equivalent and University or College Degree; have started on or are interested in working towards the CIP designation.

Bilingual Disability Claims Examiner – Toronto / Mississauga
Comma Recruitment are looking for intermediate and senior Bilingual Disability Claims Examiners, you will review, assess and processes claims for applicable benefits using the technical knowledge obtained from the policies, procedural manuals, and industry and government communications.
Working in a team environment you will utilize your strong verbal and written communication skills when interacting with clients, claimants, and all relevant stakeholders. The incumbent must be able to work independently with little supervision, possess the ability to distinguish priorities and adapt well to change. The individual must work well under pressure, maintain production requirements and be willing to work overtime on occasion.
Responsibilities include:
- Processes and manages all Weekly Income Claims paid directly, establishing eligibility, calculation of earnings and benefit levels, along with obtaining the necessary medical evidence.
- Ensures all necessary documentation is provided to the insurance carrier in order for them to process any claims submitted to them for adjudication.
- Ensures all claims are processed in date order, by automatically assisting other examiners in the processing of their assigned plan(s) when their own client base in good order.
- Maintains daily production requirements as determined by the Manager.
- Liaises in a professional manner with insurance agencies, doctors, trustees, members, management, lawyers and all other stakeholders, ensuring that only allowable information is released to recognized recipients and that all information is released in writing.
- Responsible for bilingual communication both oral and written. This includes French to English translation.
- Keeps abreast of industry and government requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality over client and corporate records and medical claims information.
- Operates priority claims payment database and is able to perform manual calculations as required.
- Keeps the Manager aware of problems or areas of concern that require special attention.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post Secondary degree/diploma or business experience in a related field
- Minimum one years related STD / LTD experience. Three years for senior candidates
- Must have experience adjudicating complex disability claims cases, from a group insurance environment
- Must possess excellent customer service skills, be team oriented and cooperative with co-workers, consultants and departments
- Bilingual fluency is required (English/French)
- Excellent analytical and letter writing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and adapt well to change in a busy office environment
