The role involves Ontario Accident Benefits course development and training. This is a highly technical position.

 

•You will work with the Director, National Claims School to identify professional development needs

•Design, develop and deliver new and existing in-house educational courses and materials

•Deliver Training and Workshops on claims related topics.

•Improve/modify existing courses based on instructor and student feedback

•Develop new modules for existing courses

•Test and design student labs/exercises as necessary

•Produce or work with graphics used as visual aids within courses

 

As the successful candidate, you possess a minimum of five years experience in Ontario Accident Benefits claims adjusting.

Bodily Injury Claims Adjuster – Intermediate and Senior

Two positions are open for talented Bodily Injury adjusters, Intermediate which requires 1-3 years of adjusting experience and a Senior role that requires handling of moderate to complex claims.

The adjusters will be responsible for direct file handling and communication with all involved parties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Confirm valid coverage and  investigate liability.

Provide instruction and direction to external vendors i.e.: independent adjusters, legal counsel, engineers.

Calculate ultimate probable exposure and reserve accordingly.

Properly maintain a diary system to monitor files.

Ensure files are up to date with worksheet, case law, medical and liability information.

Report any serious injuries to Manager.

Mentor and coach junior adjusters.

Prepare Major Loss/Reinsurance Reports and participate in Claims Committee process.

Comply with service standards as outlined in the claims manual.

Actively participate in settlement initiatives along with both private and mandatory mediations.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum 1-3 years and 3+ years adjusting Bodily Injury claims. A background as a claims adjuster is an asset in addition to BI experience.

Knowledge of regulatory and contractual obligations, medical terminology, vocational rehabilitation concepts and dispute resolution practice code.

Detail oriented and well organized individual.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Superb interpersonal skills and leadership qualities/potential.

Work well individually or as a part of a team.

Computer literacy with High School Diploma or equivalent and University or College Degree; have or working towards CIP designation.

What you will achieve in this role:

 

• Assist the National Claims Investigator with the implementation of the anti-fraud Strategy.

• Assist with the development and implementation of fraud best practices.

• Identifying and securing third party advisors or suppliers to provide evidence required to support fraud case recommendations.

• Position will oversee outsourced field investigations on either a limited or primary responsibility basis.

• Providing expert advice, guidance and coaching to technical colleagues to develop knowledge and understanding of customers, and customers’ businesses and associated commercial drivers and risks.

• Keep abreast of case law, legal tactics, fraud trends or other information that may help limit losses or improve the effectiveness of the detection system.

• Assist in the training of claims personnel to recognize and react to the various types of insurance fraud and arson.

• Assist in the training of underwriting personnel in defensive underwriting techniques.

• Post secondary degree or diploma

• Extensive knowledge and experience of the investigative process, including the proper identification and collection of evidence, interviewing techniques, report analysis and other techniques

Senior Property Adjuster – Complex, with knowledge of Boiler/Machinery $80k- $100k

Specific Duties:

As a Claim Advisor, AB, you will investigate, assess and settle injury claims by telephone, in person and/or written correspondence. You will also be accountable for:
