Boiler and Machinery Inspector

Comma Recruitment are looking for a Boiler and Machinery inspector to work with Claims and Underwriting departments

Knowledge and experience required to inspect Boiler and Pressure Vessels in compliance with Ontario Regulations.   Must have an Ontario Certificate of Competency enabling the individual to complete required Jurisdictional Inspections and issue Certificates of Inspection. Preference will be given to individuals with a National Board Designation.

Responsible for providing technical guidance to underwriters, adjusters, and brokers on risk management and loss prevention pertaining to the operation and maintenance of boiler and pressure vessels.  Conducts inspections and assessments of commercial properties for existing and/or potential mechanical breakdown insurance risks.  Formulates verbal and written recommendations.

Issues Certificates of Inspection for boiler and pressure vessel objects which require them.

Inspection and generating a report that supports the underwriting and pricing of Production Machinery and Consequential Loss

As a representative of the company, provides quality customer service to insured’s and brokers as well as to internal customers such as underwriters, claims adjusters and managers.

Required to attend claims sites and assist in the assessment of the claim and its potential.

Assists in the development and delivery of equipment breakdown training programs relating to loss control and prevention to brokers, underwriters, and insured’s.

Comma Recruitment require a post secondary education, either a degree or college diploma in a related discipline such as Engineering, Physical Science or Loss Prevention

An Ontario Certificate of Competency issued by the TSSA is required.

3 years experience with practical knowledge required to inspect Boiler and Pressure Vessels.

Required

Minimum 5+  years underwriting experience with knowledge of General Insurance and associated terminology is a must.

Experience in an Underwriting Specialist or Management capacity is preferred
