New position joining a new SIU team

 

What you will achieve in this role:

 

• Assist the National Claims Investigator with the implementation of the anti-fraud Strategy.

• Assist with the development and implementation of fraud best practices.

• Identifying and securing third party advisors or suppliers to provide evidence required to support fraud case recommendations.

• Position will oversee outsourced field investigations on either a limited or primary responsibility basis.

• Co-ordinate, oversee and track assigned work with external claims investigator vendors.

• Delivering recommendations to claims handling colleagues and/or underwriting in line with established standards, procedures and guidance provided.

• Report investigation findings with recommendations for approval, denial and future claim handling.

• Prepare investigative reports for Claims, business units, and/or outside agencies.

• Assist the National Claims Investigator with responses to internal/external requests for information.

• Managing customer interactions in an efficient, courteous and timely manner to deliver high standards of customer satisfaction.

• Pursue police charges for prosecution, prepare Crown Briefs and provide evidence where applicable.

• Providing expert advice, guidance and coaching to technical colleagues to develop knowledge and understanding of customers, and customers’ businesses and associated commercial drivers and risks.

• Keep abreast of case law, legal tactics, fraud trends or other information that may help limit losses or improve the effectiveness of the detection system.

• Assist in the training of claims personnel to recognize and react to the various types of insurance fraud and arson.

• Assist in the training of underwriting personnel in defensive underwriting techniques.

 

What you bring to this role:

 

• Post secondary degree or diploma

• Extensive knowledge and experience of the investigative process, including the proper identification and collection of evidence, interviewing techniques, report analysis and other techniques

• Experience in working in investigations, collection of evidence and fraudulent claims

• Experience in working directly with customers

• Depth and breadth of experience within the P&C insurance industry

• Previous Insurance SIU experience with an AB, BI or Casualty, Auto PD background

• Strong analytical, relationship management and decision making skills

• Strong working knowledge of Ontario Auto Policy and Regulations

• Comprehensive knowledge of criminal and civil procedures

• Good knowledge in Microsoft Office products

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Track record of delivering results
