Claims Manager – Auto, Property and Subrogation

Responsible for managing, mentoring and leading a team of adjusters, acts in a consultative and advisory capacity on claims matters and technical issues such as: liability determination, investigation, policy interpretation, settlement negotiation, and reserve establishment for Subrogation claims.

Resolves complex claims related issues and/or escalates problems according to company policies.  Ensures that corporate policies, claims standards, and procedures are followed

Maintains effective communication channels with other departments.

Liaises with other claims experts or management on technical and administrative issues.

Attends and participates in legislative/judicial hearings and alternate dispute resolution meetings. Authorizes settlements of claims in accordance with authority limits.

Establishes and maintains productive business relationships with vendors, service providers, and legal firms.

Identifies improvement needs and recommends changes to policies and/or processes to improve business results and maintain competitiveness.

Manages individual claim cases. This includes: investigation, collection, and assessment of information; establishment of reserves; production of claims reports; and determination and negotiation of claim settlements.  This may also include customer and broker contact and consultation with expert adjusters and lawyers.

Audits staff files and provides feedback and/or training as determined by this exercise.

Develops, recommends, and implements management strategies, organizational structure, and process/technology improvement initiatives.

 

Qualifications

•University degree, CIP or related work experience

•5-7 years related claim work experience.

•Leadership skills including ability to motivate and coach subordinates

•Strong technical skills in commercial liability & property policies, small claims court actions, managing a claims distribution channel.

•Analytical skills to deal with policy, legal and regulatory interpretation and implementation.

•Strong communication and customer service skills including diplomacy and tact.
