Responsibilities:
- Liaise between Company and assigned brokers through face to face by visits, and other mediums of contact to produce and underwrite profitable new Commercial Property /Casualty business within service standards in accordance with company guidelines and within assigned authority.
- Market our Commercial Insurance products and services to brokers through presentations.
- Ensure that the renewal underwriters and underwriting assistants issue new business, renewals and endorsements accurately and within service standards with the appropriate wordings, schedules, and certificates attached.
- Develop and maintain strong broker relationships.
- Analyze and evaluate results and use individual/collaborative judgment to maintain profit and growth.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in commercial Property/Casualty underwriting, intermediate and senior roles available
- Strong product knowledge, and the ability to make sound underwriting decisions while managing mid-market and/or hard to place risks
- Process strong oral and written communication skills, superb time management and organizational skills and strong negotiation and sales skills.
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.

Senior BI Adjuster
Comma Recruitment are looking for a Senior BI / Casualty Adjuster, responsible for investigating, negotiating and settling serious bodily injury claims.
The adjuster will be responsible for direct file handling and communication with all involved parties.
- Confirm valid coverage.
- Fully investigate liability.
- Fully investigate serious injuries & exposure.
- Must have significant CGL experience
- Provide instruction and direction to external vendors i.e.: independent adjusters, legal counsel, engineers.
- Calculate ultimate probable exposure and reserve accordingly.
- Properly maintain a diary system to monitor files.
- Ensure files are up to date with BI worksheet, case law, medical and liability information.
- Report any serious injuries to Manager.
- Mentor and coach junior adjusters.
- Prepare Major Loss/Reinsurance Reports and participate in Claims Committee process.
- Comply with service standards as outlined in the claims manual.
- Actively participate in settlement initiatives along with both private and mandatory mediations.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10 + years of experience adjusting BI and CGL claims.
- Knowledge of regulatory and contractual obligations, medical terminology, vocational rehabilitation concepts and dispute resolution practice.
- Experience with internal and external audits.
- Detail oriented and well organized individual.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Occasional travel across Ontario/Canada to mediations/pre-trials/trials is required
- Superb interpersonal skills and leadership qualities/potential.
- Work well individually or as a part of a team.
- Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 2000 and/or XP.

- Ensure the accurate and efficient payment of claims.
- Prepare summaries and files for litigation, mediation/arbitration, and multidisciplinary assessments.

- Understand and apply best business practices towards compliance, internal control and operational risk controls in accordance to national standards and regulatory standards and policies.

Qualifications
- Post-secondary education and / or equivalent on the job experience
- Minimum 1-3 years Claims adjusting experience.
- Working knowledge of the company principles and practices related to claims settlement, policy wordings, insurance contracts, fraud investigations, serious losses and coverage questions.
- Ability to work within and adapt to PC oriented environments, including familiarity with e-mail and Internet skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Actively pursuing CIP designation an asset.

Complex Group Claims Specialist
Reporting to: Director, Operations
Comma Recruitment are looking for a Claims Specialist to manage complex disability claims in a pro-active manner with the goal of achieving a level of functional improvement that supports the earliest possible return to employability.
This involves working directly with a claimant as well as their employer, physician and treatment providers to achieve the required level of functional improvement to support the employability goal. A Rehabilitation Consultant assesses the vocational, educational and rehabilitative needs of claimants who are disabled in order to understand the functional impact of the diagnosis.
The Claims Specialist then develops, implements and progresses approved rehabilitation service delivery plans based on claimant needs and contractual provisions. Also, they research and secure external treatment providers if needed to achieve functional improvement towards the employability goal.
Accountabilities:
- Assess the potential for rehabilitation services to impact on the duration of disability of complex claims through file review as well as telephone and/or face to face interview of claimants, employers and involved treatment providers.
- Develop realistic, cost-effective rehabilitation/ return to work plans for actions focusing on return to work.
- Provide counseling and/or referral services as necessary regarding identified needs of claimants. (disability adjustment factors; treatment; vocational solutions; community resources etc.)
- Maintain follow up contact with a claimant, focusing on barrier resolution and functional improvements made, while providing claimant support during the intervention period.
- Manage return to employability expectations with employees, employers and care providers
- Prepare written reports detailing findings and recommendations.
- Track rehabilitation activities and document case files electronically.
As an integral member of the Group Disability Claims, the Claims Specialist works closely with the Sr. Disability Claim Case Managers to ensure that opportunities for non-litigated settlements are appropriately identified and move through the process in a timely way and in a qualitative manner until case is resolved by either offer not being made, offer made but not accepted and/or approved or offer accepted with plan sponsor approval.
Additional Role Specific Accountabilities:
- Complete, print, and send settlement offers, includes choosing appropriate accompanying documents based on type of case;
- Communicate with plan sponsors, plan members, lawyers, physicians and other departments by electronic mail, telephone, and written correspondence;
- Update information on imaging and other computer systems, including databases;
- Ensure any impact of procedural changes is resolved to ensure successful transition to new processes;
- Document and maintain training modules, tools and materials;
- Provide technical assistance for internal inquiries;
- Conduct audits on a monthly basis relevant to potential rehabilitation and settlement cases
Competencies:
- Excellent communication skills;
- Strong analytical skills, excellent problem solving ability, can work in a very organized manner handling multiple tasks and prioritizing work with a minimum of supervision;
