In addition, this role supports the Accounts Receivables function.
• Provide administrative support to the Adjusting team
• Intake all new incoming claims through email
• Gather and coordinate necessary documentation and information related to the claim in order to create a notice of loss and distribute to appropriate reporting channels within established timelines.
• Within 24 hours of notice or receipt of report from the Adjuster, complete the 24-hour report in accordance with client expectations.
• Forward notice of loss and related documentation to insurer or broker via email.
• Upload required information / documentation and diary service
• Scan and upload to applicable file any incoming cheque payable to insureds, contractors, etc.; notify Adjuster of payment received and any pending action required.
• Handle account receivable function
• Follow up on past due invoices; report any invoicing queries or concerns from Examiners.
• Sort through incoming mail.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports as requested
• Provide support with PowerPoint presentations as requested
QUALIFICATIONS
• Post-secondary education and/or a combination of education and related experience.
• Experience in insurance adjusting or broker claims environment preferred.
• Prior experience handling account receivable an asset.

• Excellent oral and written communication.

- Maintain daily access in the telephone queue in accordance with our expectations, for intake of new claims.
- Intake and setup of new claims through email, telephone contact or after-hours assignment.
- Gather and coordinate necessary documentation and information related to the claim in order to create a notice of loss and distribute to appropriate Carrier reporting channels within established timelines.
- Input and setup new claims, triage claims via email, fax, web submission, and/or telephone in accordance with the Broker Claim Services Agreement and our protocols.
- Adhere to and maintain file diary schedule in the Broker operating system. Diaries for all claims setup must be kept current and relevant at all times
- Cross-train Junior Claims Specialist to support Broker account as necessary.
- Provide support on all other accounts by assisting with backlog of intake and setting up claims from the telephone queue.
File Coordination (40%)
- Maintain regular contact with Carrier, Adjusters and Examiners by telephone or email to obtain open claim status information and access our electronic file and Broker operating systems concurrently; support the Adjuster in keeping the client up-to-date.
- Manage all incoming claim correspondence from Carriers or Adjusters to update the status of claims. Incoming correspondence and or documents must be input into the Broker operating system and cleared within 5 days of receipt.
- Provide Management Reports for corporate office and Broker Accounts as requested.
Claims Advisor (20%)
- Advise, guide and answer questions on the claim process to the Broker Client through telephone/email contact or in-person.
- Through contact with Carrier Adjuster/Examiner advocate for the Broker Client regarding the process. • Respond to Broker Client calls received directly following claim setup and answer questions on behalf of the Broker.
- Advise Insureds of no coverage (in consultation with their Broker) in a professional and empathetic manner in order to rectify problems on their own and/or support looking after their needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 – 5 + years of insurance adjusting industry or broker claims experience an asset.
- A post-secondary education or a combination of relevant education and on-the-job experience.
- Working knowledge of Auto/Property adjusting and claim adjudication process preferred.
- Actively pursuing CIP designation preferred with completion of Auto License course through FSCO/CIAA an asset or willingness to enroll in and complete the CIP curriculum within the specified timeline.
- Prior experience in customer service environment required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
