Personal Lines Underwriter – $65 – $75k – Montreal
Comma Recruitment are looking for a Personal Lines Underwriter with 3-5 years experience, the ability to market and grow a book of high value/high net worth clients as well as underwrite personal lines policies.
Develop and execute marketing plans to drive new and renewal business, including in-person visits, telemarketing and distribution of marketing materials for insurance company partners
Evaluate, classify, and rate each risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing
Develop and submit underwriting referrals
Monitor key metrics, such as, new business hit ratio, renewal retention ratio, premium growth, and loss ratio, formulating corrective action where necessary
Mentor and train Assistant Underwriters as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 3 years of underwriting experience, excess & surplus experience an asset.
Strong sales and marketing skills, interest in continued education and professional development

Forensic Accountant – Insurance Claims $95k – $105k + Bonus
Comma Recruitment are currently looking a qualified Accountant to join our claims team, you will support the claims adjusters in the adjudication of claims, particularly with regard to business interruption and loss of income calculations.
They will be a dynamic contributor who is up to the challenge for building a strategic team, and responsible for analyzing and calculating the loss incurred by the claimant following an accident by analyzing the accounting records provided.
The candidate will provide to the claims adjuster the amounts payable to the insured to conduct a fair and equitable settlement. They will also engage in knowledge transfer to the adjusters regarding effective handling of claims with such calculations.
- Verify the validity of the claim for business/income loss
- Analyze financial documents provided while respecting the commitments and obligations to the claimant
- Listen to and anticipate the needs of the claimant and offer the best solutions
- Meet the claimant and his accountant when required, in collaboration with the expert in charge of the file loss. May require occasional travel
- Communicate the results in a clear, precise and simplified manner to the claims adjuster or the claimant, adapting communication style accordingly
- Provide fair and equitable settlement that will consider the policy, standards, rules, applicable laws and following company processes.
- Offer technical support to adjusters and team leaders, ensuring timely follow-up
- Develop efficient workflows and processes to ensure timely resolution of files
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
- 5+ years of experience in audit or accounting; forensic experience (asset);
- CPA in good standing
- Experience in the insurance sector (asset);
- Ability to work with technology and company systems;
- Ability to work in team;
- Excellent communicator
- High level of professionalism, integrity and ethics;
- Ability to negotiate and make quality decisions at the appropriate time;
- Autonomous, able to manage his work, be organized and rigorous;
- Good adaptability and stress resistance;
