Senior Professional Liability Underwriter

Comma Recruitment are looking for an experienced and talented Professional Liability Underwriter, ideally 5+ years experience, a great opportunity to be a technical specialist working with all our Canadian offices.

• Handle risks located throughout Canada with carrier and Lloyds of London partners

• Serve as an internal resource and product expert

• Travel and entertain clients and prospects

• See opportunities to access and cultivate new markets and products

• Manage relationships with retail brokers

• Develop and execute marketing plan to drive new business, including in-person visits, networking, marketing and distribution of marketing materials

•Underwrite new and renewal business based on underwriting authority and guidelines

• Participate in a highly lucrative sales incentive plan

• Evaluate, classify, and rate each risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing

• Apply appropriate quality underwriting and risk selection on quoted business

• Monitor key metrics, such as, new business hit ratio, renewal retention ratio, premium growth, and loss ratio, formulating corrective action where necessary

• Use cutting-edge technology to deliver high quality service to agents and agencies

• Mentor and train Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters, as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

• 5-10 years underwriting experience, preferably significant experience in professional liability

• CIP, RPLU or equivalent preferred
