Commercial Property Claims Specialist – Construction and Builders Risk

Comma Recruitment are looking for talented commercial property claims adjuster, must have experience with commercial lines along with experience handling Construction and Builders Risk

Experience adjusting commercial claims, large and complex claims, experience scoping, estimating and using Xactimate an asset, position will be office based and will require some travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Proactive and thorough investigation and direct handling of losses
  •  Negotiate and settle losses within authority
  •  Document all conversations and file activity.
  • Coach and mentor more junior staff
  • Act as liaison with other departments, brokers and vendors

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience with Commercial Property Claims, investigating, negotiating and settling Commercial Property, Builders Risk and Construction Claims
  • Skilled in interpreting commercial lines wordings, as well as the Insurance Act of Ontario.
  • Must have strong organizational, communication and prioritization skills.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic individual who is able to work independently and contribute as part of a team.
  • College/University degree or equivalent experience and working towards/ completed  CIP designation.

The role brings a range of responsibilities including managing adjusters/claims management, Auditing and claims quality control, managing clients and supervising admin and small intake team, general leadership and motivating and mentoring the team.

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive claims experience

Ability to train, mentor and coach staff along with technical underwriting experience.

  • Provide ongoing training, coaching and supervision to underwriting staff members.
  • Implementing and maintaining department policies, guidelines, procedures and reports
  • Manages the transaction service levels of the Underwriting department
  • Develop, co-ordinate and conduct the appropriate technical training for all underwriting employees.
